I’ve recently had the pleasure of becoming a School Governor at Gunthorpe Primary School, and following my first meeting, I have to say I am encouraged by the commitment and ideas shown by other members of the board.
I’ve been a governor before at Ken Stimpson, and earlier in the year, at a committee meeting, Council Officers were highlighting the need for more people to become governors.
So I put my name down.
Now I can assure you that I am not short of things to do, but playing a positive role in the education of local young people and helping promote the good work done by the local school, was far too much of an attraction to not take up the challenge.
Have worked at Gunthorpe primary for 10 years…. Growing school day by day!!

My Sister lives on Gunthorpe Road and both she and I are horrified by the speeding cars all day every day. Considering that there is Northgate School, Gunthorpe Nursery and also Gunthorpe School why cannot either speed cameras or traffic calmers be introduced before something dreadful happens?
i look forward to receivingyour reply

Hi Sue – not sure if you spotted this recent article on my blog? See: http://darrenfower.mycouncillor.org.uk/gunthorpe-ridings-needs-road-safety-measures-asap#page-content – But I for one want to see some sort of measures taken and in the same way we successfully campaigned for the crossing on Gunthorpe Road, myself and the local FOCUS Team hope to achieve action along Gunthorpe Ridings as well!

Hi Sue – Thanks for the comment and I agree we need to see something done and hence why myself and the FOCUS Team will continue to request action. I also want to see something done that works and isn’t just paying lips service etc
